Owen Chase was a soldier in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. He was born in 1737 in North Hampton, Connecticut and moved to Sinking Creek, Bristol County, Massachusetts at the age of 18. Chase served as a private in Colonel William Prescott's regiment under General John Sullivan and also served as a chaplain’s assistant. After the war he stayed with his family in Massachusetts where he married and raised four sons before moving to Attleboro, Massachusetts to take over his father-in-law's textile mills. Chase died in 1824 at age 75.
